It’s a funny old world watching Ascot on C4

Pic: Ears looking at you: Clive Brittain’s victory with Rizeena in the Queen Mary made enjoyable viewing on the box.

“ROYAL ASCOT has moved, and shrunk. This year it occupies a small area in the corner of my living room, inside a television.

“When Wilfred Hyde-White, affable actor and occasional bankrupt (he liked a bet) was unable to attend Royal Ascot, he made a point of still dressing up in top hat and tails. Rather less sartorially diligent, I settle for a clean pair of jeans.

“For the royal meeting, I thought I’d eschew (a great word, please use it or it will die out) At The Races and treat myself to Channel 4. Some people think the new format lack’s humour, so it will be interesting to see if the team breaks off from their analysis of horses and hats and take it in turns to tell jokes. Clare Balding, “Knock, knock,” Nick Luck, “Who’s there?” “Doctor.” “Doctor who?” “That’s right.”

Tuesday
“It’s great to have a Kentucky Derby and Dubai World Cup winner at Ascot but a nervous time for Animal Kingdom’s trainer, Graham ‘Loco’ Motion. As you’ll remember, in 1962 Little Eva sang, “Come on baby, do the Loco-Motion. I know you’ll get to like it if you give it a cha-ance. So come on, come on, do-ooh the Loco-Motion with me. You  gotta swing your hips, now.”

“Animal Kingdom flops, Motion doesn’t feel like doing the Loco-Motion, and Aidan O’Brien, triumphant, in his quiet way, with Declaration Of War, also eschews the Loco-Motion and instead explains that Magician was hit on the head by a swallow while swimming and it’s only because Magician’s tough that he’s here today, to get walloped in the St James’s Palace Stakes.

“Someone called Brix Smith-Start discusses fashion, my cue for a cup of tea. Various things are “unbelievable”. I’m not sure that it’s a word that should exist, or even can exist. Anyway, the Queen evidently “embraces colour”. Today, she’s embracing peach and wearing a hat from the same milliners as Clare Balding, whose hat is red, while Rishi Persad’s hat is black.

“Jim McGrath is embraced by a grey waistcoat, Graham Cunningham by a mauve one, which goes well with his grey hair, and Nick Luck by a light blue one. None of them are wearing either top hat or tails. Tomorrow perhaps.

“My living room does not compare with Ascot, although there is a frisson of excitement when Noviello’s Ices van (‘For Those Who Prefer The Best’) appears outside.

“Make note to back Big Easy in next year’s Ascot Stakes, if run over three miles.

Wednesday
James Doyle wins the Prince of Wales’s. James Doyle wins the Royal Hunt Cup. James Doyle wins the Queen Mary. Make note to do a treble on James Doyle’s mounts tomorrow.

“The tall, slim, not-in-the-first-flush-of-youth gentleman wearing a bowler hat, who walked into the winner’s enclosure with Tuesday’s winners, walks in with today’s winners too. Who is he? What is he for? Where does he stand on the Syrian question?

“Noviello’s Ices van is here again.  How is the man inside going to watch the racing if he’s selling 99’s? Maybe’s he’s got a television in the van. Maybe I should pop out and tell him that McGrath is keen on Rizeena for the Queen Mary. It’s to do with the state of Rizeena’s ears when winning at Sandown. I hadn’t noticed, which is why McGrath had a big figure in his ‘plus’ column and I have a big figure on the other one.

“I eschew an ice cream and instead enjoy watching Clive Brittain enjoy having a winner and enjoy watching Wesley Ward’s  Sweet Emma Rose almost make a victorious raid from across the Atlantic.

Thursday and Friday
“Jolly good days (I particularly enjoyed watching No Nay Never win the Norfolk Stakes. Well done Ward and Joel Rosario) but am eschewing further comment in order to leave room for …

Saturday
“That means the Royal Ascot getting out stakes, alias the Queen Alexandra.

“It’s the meeting’s easiest puzzle to solve because you have horses rated 109 (Shahwardi) competing on level weights with horses rated 69 (American Spin). On the other hand, there’s the marathon trip to consider.

“Only seven of the 20 runners are rated 90 or above, including Mad Moose, who might not condescend to start and won’t win even if he does, and Junior, who has no chance. That leaves Chiberta King, Cul Baire, Meganisi, No Heretic  and Shahwardi.

“Second last year, Shahwardi is entitled to win but had a long,  hard season last year and ran poorly on his return.

“Depending on the odds, I like Chiberta King, who has the ability and a fair chance of staying, followed by Cul Baire, who is likely to outrun his rating.

“That’s if you’ve got any money left.”

“IT'S A FUNNY OLD WORLD  WATCHING ROYAL ASCOT AT HOME ON C4” David tells us. Our Queen’s Racecourse and the Royal Ascot experience is something else for sure to go to for a family day out..

But staying home and watching C4 is such a good way to get the feel of what horseracing is all about. To begin your very own adventure into global horseracing at home. Where you can concentrate one step at a time every Saturday by joining Ch4 Morning Line am. And watching Ch4 live pm where all the action is at the races, in the afternoon. Because horseracing is massive to learn about. There are so many pieces of the horseracing jigsaw to fit in place, to bring you the whole picture within Royal Ascot 2013. As shown by CH4 horseracing team live from Royal Ascot  all this week. An amazing and in some ways an overwhelming experience.  Beautifully presented by C4 Horseracing Team. A balance accurately in tune, Spot on.

David says  here that "Some people think the new C4 format lack’s humour." What sort of humour are we talking about exactly? There is nothing funny in laughing at other peoples hardship and sufferance, to include the horses. As neither is there anything funny about JT McNamara's Cheltenham Festival  fall (2012) As neither is there anything funny about what McNamara's life has been reduced to since. It was down to a horse who had fallen in the previous race lying severely injured, unable to get up, out on the racetrack infront of the stands. That the  BHA officials allowed the next race to be run in circumstances as these, lethal.  No further race should have been run until the racetrack was  completely cleared. To change the course which is what they did, to allow the next race to be run totally dangerously incompetent . BHA trying to cut corners, placing other peoples lives including the horses in danger. It should not be the job of the Injured Jockey's Association to pick up the pieces of someone elses life to include the horses trashed by the BHA. The BHA need suing for attempted murder.  For neglegent bloodhorse illiterate incompetence.
The dangerous decisions the BHA made to allow the next race to be run with the racetrack changes they made at the last minute a lethal bloodhorse illiterate bodge up. This next race  had no business to be run.  should never have been run.

David:  “Jim McGrath is embraced by a grey waistcoat, Graham Cunningham by a mauve one, which goes well with his grey hair, and Nick Luck by a light blue one. None of them are wearing either top hat or tails. Tomorrow perhaps.
JMC:  Yes, Yes, Yes, very colourful, very smart, quite a Wow in fact.

David: Tuesday
“It’s great to have a Kentucky Derby and Dubai World Cup winner at Ascot but a nervous time for Animal Kingdom’s trainer, Graham ‘Loco’ Motion.  JMC: You've got to be in it to win it,  a brave try. A brave and beautuful horse you have Graham 'Loco' Motion who leaves us to ponder yet again on horses for courses and surfaces.  Even Rafael Nadal crashing out of Wimbedon this afternoon, (Monday 24.06.13 very dissapointing) telling us he is not so good on Turf. I guess that is what Animal Kingdom was trying to tell us at Royal Ascot last week (Opening Day Tuesday 18th June 2013 challenging for the 2.30 Queen Anne Stakes) It seemed like ANIMAL KINGDOM was (drowning in a sea of grass) No one can take away what ANIMAL KINGDOM has achieved, so Graham 'Loco' Motion is entitled to have a little dance swing to cheer himself up.

Two year old Rizeena just starting out on her racing career, this her third win from four starts. She won this easily with the guidance of James Doyle in the saddle who timed her win with ease drawing away from Sweet Emma Rose (USA). by 2 lengths. This race is considered to be the top 5 furlong sprint of the British Flat Turf Season. A beautiful filly to follow, prepared by one of the truly greatest British pioneering horseracing trainers ever.

THE RULES OF GLOBAL HORSERACING

Where are they?

Who's are they?

The huge bolder blocking true Global Horseracing Rules
in Britain is Bloodhorse Illiteracy. No Equus Zone.

The use of the WHIP is one of the most serious issues there could possibly ever be in any and all horseracing countries. Global horseracing cannot be led into the wilderness by the British New Bloodhorse Illiterate Whip Ruling, entered illegally into British Rules in October 2011 following a lengthy, costly useless Bloodhorse Illiterate Whip Review.

The other danger is how the different people involved who cannot ride at this level  transcribe such Whip Rules, any Whip Rules.

Richard Hughes and Martin Dwyer's experiences in India recently, sound a clear warning that bloodhorse illiteracy is the biggest danger to all true horseracing worldwide. Monty Roberts and Kelly Marks know all about this, as does Clare Balding and  Zara Phillips. So there is absolutely no excuse for British Racing, and Global Racing to refuse to get this Whip Issue right.
